Survivors United

Standing Strong Together Against Abuse

Welcome To Survivors United

This site is dedicated to all the survivors and victims of abuse who are still standing strong in life.  To all the survivors and victims out there I want to encourage you to use your voice to speak out about what you have gone through.  I believe that by standing strong together in this war against abuse, we can help so many others out there who are going through the same thing.  Together we can shed light in the dark areas of people's lives, restoring their hope and faith that they have lost by letting them know they are not alone in what they go through.  It's time for us as survivors to unite and reach out to others as well as make people aware of the issues of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault and how damaging the affects can be.  Standing strong together we can make a difference in the lives of others.   To all the victims and survivors out there, I want to say welcome to Survivors United and I hope that you find it to be a helpful site.

This poem is dedicated to all the survivors out there.  Their stories of courage and triumph inspire me and they are my heroes in life.  They  motivate me to keep on going in life and to keep living each day.  I wrote this one for them, just a way to say that I appreciate you guys and admire your strength because you guys have been through so much but you never gave up.  To all the survivors out there, stay strong and keep spreading light to others out there who need help and encouragement.

Survivors United by Jenna Kandyce Linch

In our lives we have come a long way
Overcoming many obstacles to make it through the day.
Each of us emerge from a different background
And on a new journey in life we are bound.

Alot of trials we had to endure
Of ourselves at times we weren't too sure.
Behind a smile our pain we concealed
To no one were our emotions and feelings revealed.

Broken in pieces, we kept silent
About things going on, we dared not vent.
Alone numerous tears we cried
Losing focus on the light up ahead.

Abusers left us battered
Inside us our hearts remained shattered.
Pain we knew all too well
Afraid of what would happen, no one did we tell.

Forced to live a lie, we pretended nothing was wrong
Hiding in the shadows we moved along.
Within us for help we cried
But when asked how we were, about the trauma taking place we lied.

Imprisoned by walls we built, we chose a life of solitude
Growing up in broken homes, so much pain up close we viewed.
Underneath our heavy burden the path we traveled on became worn
From the tragic events, in half our lives were torn.

We wondered what purpose life held
When it seemed at everything we tried to do we failed.
Struggling with ourselves we gripped life's ledge
Feeling we were slipping off the edge.

Mustering all our strength we rose to our feet
Determined that hardships would not have us beat.
Defending ourselves we decided to fight
Not backing down in our enemies' sight.

Boldly we marched forward
Using our voices to speak out, their every attack we countered.
We broke free from their control
Taking back our life, dignity, and grace they stole.

This time they would be the ones forced to leave
Because for our lives justice we believed we could achieve.
Whatever it takes became our theme
As ourselves we sought to redeem.

Now here we are standing strong today
The part of a survivor we portray.
We don't know how to quit
For even at our darkest hour, we lift ourselves out of the pit.

Respecting us, others view our stories as testimonies of our courage
They show proof that one can be strong enough to break free from bondage.
Underestimating us was the biggest mistake people made
Watching how far we have come in life, places with us they wish they could trade.

Once we thought our hope was gone
But never giving up, to greater things we moved on.
Reaching out to each other and those around us a helping hand
Together united as survivors we proudly stand.
