Message To Survivors
I wrote this for all victims and survivors of abuse that have gone unheard in their lives. Many times when we try to speak out, people don't believe us simply because they don't want to own up to the truth that abuse is real and that it leaves so many damaging affects. Instead, we find ourselves the ones being falsely accused and judged for what was never our fault. I have to say that when it comes to the subject of abuse, I am very passionate about it. As a child abuse and domestic violence survivor, I know the pain all too well and bear the emotional scars left over from it. It took me awhile to break free and break my silence. But once I did, I knew that more then anything, I wanted to help other victims and survivors in life and be a voice for them as well as give them a voice to be heard. To all the victims and survivors out there, I want to say keep fighting. If we all stand strong together in this war on abuse, I know we can win. We have survived way too much in our lives to suffer defeat. They can bring it on because we are ready to battle them in whatever they throw our way. We will be heard and we will not be stopped.

Message To Survivors by Jenna Kandyce Linch
In your life you've seen so much sorrow
Sometimes wondering if you'll have the strength to face tomorrow.
The nightmares you lived through go untold
On a new start you try to grab hold.
Those horrible memories you never forget
Yet no one seems to understand all the challenges you met.
Keeping it inside, you faced a world on your own
One in which you found yourself fighting battles alone.
You were told you were the one who did something wrong
That you deserved it you heard from those who thought you didn't ever belong.
As an innocent victim you stood falsely accused
Because nobody wanted to believe you had been abused.
Thinking you made it up is what they would assume
When it happened, they weren't the ones in the room.
They refused to own up to the truth that abuse is real
If they walked a mile in your shoes, they'd feel the pain you feel.
As a fellow survivor I know the pain all too well
About the things I went through I was afraid to tell.
Upon myself I took the blame
Finding myself surrounded by shame.
It took awhile for me to have the courage to let it out
Finally gaining the strength to overcome my self-doubt.
After I broke free, new things I began to see
The problem was never me.
Our abusers had their own issues from which they failed to heal
Taking their anger out on us is how they chose to deal.
For their problems, we were forced to pay
In silence we lived because no one was there to hear what we had to say.
By controlling us, they could make us afraid so we'd stay
Their brainwashing methods caused us to lose our way.
A part of our lives they mercilessly stole
Wanting us to forever play the victim role.
They couldn't stop us though
For our hearts we decided to follow.
Traveling a new parth, we made our choice
Breaking the chains, we chose to use our voice.
In this together, we know we are not alone
As survivors into stronger people we have grown.
Out of darkness future generations we can lead
Many more wait anxiously to be freed.
We can show the way by walking in the footsteps of those who came before
Hope and faith once lost we'll restore.
Fighting together, justice we seek
Showing our abusers that we are anything but weak.
Into silence we shall not retreat
We've survived too much to suffer defeat.
A voice for those who have gone unherad we serve
Abuse is something that people don't deserve.
Surrender is not an option
This war on abuse we can win.
Our abusers we'll look in the eye and tell them to bring it on
Because in the end, we'll still be standing strong while they're gone.
